Michael J. Fitzpatrick graduated from Peru State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska.   Before attending law school, he was a police officer for nearly 3 years and is a graduate of the State of Nebraska Police Academy in Grand Island, Nebraska.    His legal career has included being an Assistant Woodbury County Attorney in Sioux City, Iowa.   During his tenure as a County Attorney, Mr. Fitzpatrick served as the chief D.U.I. prosecutor of the 2nd largest county attorney’s office in the State of Iowa and headed up the D.U.I. division of that office.


     After being offered a job as a Public Defender for the State of Iowa, Mike left the Woodbury County Attorney’s Office and began his career as a defense Attorney working in 5 different Counties for the State of Iowa’s Public Defender’s Office.   Mike left the State of Iowa’s public defender’s office when he was offered a position with Douglas County Public Defender’s Office in Omaha, Nebraska.   The move allowed Mike to return to his hometown of Omaha to practice law.

 
    
After serving as a Deputy Douglas County Public Defender, Mr. Fitzpatrick was offered a position as a Prosecutor on a D.U.I. Grant for the Omaha City Prosecutor’s Office.   In October of 2005, he left that position to enter private practice as a solo practitioner of law.   He is married and has 2 step-children.
